This frequently used synthetic chemical UV filter (OMC) is reported to cause skin photosensitation and photo allergic effects, which is of concern given that sun exposure is obviously expected to take place after application of a sunscreen !
One to two hours after sunscreen containing OMC has been applied to your skin, the OMC constituent is being absorbed into your bloodstream, ultimately accumulating in fatty tissue, taking several days to be excreted.
Recent studies suggest that OMC can also act as an endocrine (hormone) active chemical, exhibiting oestrogen-like effects.
OMC can adversely affect development by interfering with the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA or HTPA axis) , affecting male reproductive system development
